Morgan Freeman turns 124-acre ranch into bee sanctuary

LYNCHBURG, Va. (CIRCA via WSET) — Actor Morgan Freeman is making major strides to save the bees.

Which classic movie theater snack are you?

Forbes reports the 81-year-old has turned his 124-acre Mississippi ranch into a bee sanctuary.

In 2014, Freeman told "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon that he began taking up beekeeping as a hobby. He shared his experience in beekeeping and the need to save wild bees for healthy environments.

Freeman imported over 20 beehives from Arkansas, and he works to feed the bees sugar and water. He also plants bee-friendly magnolia trees, lavender and clover.

He said he does not wear a bee suit or hat and hasn't been stung.

According to Freeman, he only feeds them and has no intention of harvesting honey.
