HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (CIRCA via STORYFUL) – A gas station clerk in Huntsville, Alabama, used a machete to defend himself against an knife-wielding man and his accomplice as they tried to rob his store on March 16, reports said.

The frenzied altercation, which was caught on a security camera and released by police on March 20, occurred at a Conoco station near Pulaski Pike and Springfield Road in Huntsville. In this footage, a man can be seen advancing on the store clerk with a knife, despite the clerk wielding a machete.

The men swing their blades at each other, knocking over shelves in the store. The clerk chases the robber outside where he then encounters the robber’s female accomplice. The clerk smashes the vehicle of the assailants multiple times with the machete, smashing the windshield and other windows, and appears to cut the hand of the female accomplice near the end of the video.

As the clerk and the accomplice fought outside, the male robber re-entered the store and took the cash register. Reports said the two robbers, later identified as 32-year-old Seth Holcomb and 33-year-old Laney Nicholson, then continued to fight the clerk before fleeing in their vehicle.

They were arrested by police shortly after and taken to Madison County Jail, with bail set at $90,000 and $75,000 respectively, according to WAAY TV.

Despite the violence seen on camera, the clerk and the robbers sustained only minor injuries, according to local media citing police.
