CANTON, Ohio (CIRCA via WSYX/WTTE) — This woman was issued a traffic ticket for trying to avoid potholes.
“They’re all over. It’s like an obstacle course. They’re so bad that you just are rattled when you hit them,” said Alanna Corns said.
Corns admits she swerved her car into the center turn lane to dodge potholes.
A state trooper pulled her over and issued her a ticket, accusing her of violating a state law that generally requires vehicles drive on the right side of the road.
However, the law makes an exception when “an obstruction exists making it necessary to drive to the left of the center of the highway” as long as the driver yields to any oncoming traffic in the opposite lane.
Fortunately for Corns, a Canton municipal court judge eventually dismissed the traffic citation.
The ticket could have cost her an addition $150-$250.
“So I have to take responsibility for that, but I more so wanted to post it to get awareness because the roads are horrible.”
Corns said the ticket left her “super frustrated. Cause if the city was doing what they were supposed to be doing, I wouldn’t have to be dodging potholes, and i wouldn’t have gotten the ticket in the first place.”
