A New York City bar apologized after refusing service to a man wearing a MAGA hat

NEW YORK (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — Jake's Dilemma, a bar located in New York City, has issued an apology after one of its employees was caught on video refusing to serve a man because he was wearing a pro-Donald Trump “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat.

Dion Cini shared footage of the interaction on Facebook recently. In the video, Cini can be heard saying that the bartender was refusing to serve him because he was wearing the hat. At that point, the bartender appears to reach for Cini’s phone, and Cini pulls it away.

Cini argues with the bartender, disputing his decision, and calls him “soy boy.”

The bartender then confirms to Cini that he was refusing to serve him because he was wearing the MAGA hat.

The bartender and the security guard repeatedly ask Cini to leave, and he repeatedly refuses. The security guard continues to urge Cini to leave the bar, while Cini insists he has done nothing wrong.

For several minutes, Cini, the bartender and the security guard continue to argue. Cini urges them to call police, and again refuses to leave. He also claims in the footage that he has worn the hat in the bar “20 times.” The footage ends as two officers appear to arrive.

The bar issued an apology on its Facebook page and said the employee had been disciplined and would be retrained.
