BANGOR, Maine (CIRCA via WGME) — The Bangor Fire Department says a man, who was sleeping in a dumpster, was picked up by a garbage truck and dumped inside.
It happened at the Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Texas Avenue.
Officials say staff members who were walking into work at Westgate Manor on Union Street heard the cries for help coming from the truck.
The truck driver had no idea a person was in the back, according to officials.
Bangor Fire crews were able to get to the man out. He suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and is being treated at Northern Light EMMC.
The remaining crews on scene assisted with picking up the trash that had to be unloaded to remove the man.
