Cow leads police on low-speed chase in Nebraska

Actions

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (CIRCA via KHGI) — Grand Island police in Nebraska were led on an unusual chase Monday after a cow escaped from a local beef plant.

A viewer from sister station NTV captured part of the low-speed chase on video, showing two patrol vehicles trailing the cow down the street at around 1:15 p.m.

The witness said the cow trotted past an auto shop and was later spotted on someone's lawn.

Police said the cow then went into a detention area where it was put down.

The plant could not take the cow back to the facility to become meat, so a rendering plant was called to pick up the cow.
