A group of Florida inmates rescue 1-year-old girl after she was accidentally locked in a car

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. (CIRCA) — After a 1-year-old baby was accidentally locked in a car, a group of inmates came to her rescue. The event was recorded by the child's mother, Shadow Lantry, and has gone viral on Facebook.

According to NBC News, the infant was locked in an SUV outside the West Pasco Judaical Center on Thursday, when the baby's father accidentally locked his keys in the car. A crew of low-risk, nonviolent offenders were helping with repairs a few feet away from where the incident was taking place and offered to help. The inmates opened the door just enough to use a coat hanger to unlock the door. The event took about two minutes, according to NBC.

The 1-year-old girl was just fine and reunited with her parents.
