WASHINGTON (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — A man was taken into custody following a security incident at Orlando International Airport on Saturday, according to officials cited in local news reports. While early witnesses said the man had a gun, officials denied it.
No shots have been fired. Incident has been addressed and we have resumed rescreening and tram service to the airsides.— Orlando International Airport (@MCO) February 16, 2019
This man was very near the TSA screening machines, in line, when he began acting extremely erratically, and two loud pops were heard. Everyone began to stampede and run from the screening area, into the secure area, and back out of line toward the exits.— Zachary Jaydon (@ZacharyJaydon) February 16, 2019
This photo, which shows TSA officers surrounding an individual, was taken by Zachary Jaydon, who said the man was carrying a gun; however, Orlando Police subsequently said reports of an active shooter or a man carrying a gun were false. The airport’s official Twitter account said the incident occurred near the checkpoint for gates 1-59, adding that no shots were fired.
