WASHINGTON (CIRCA) — Congress voted yesterday to pass the spending bill that would allow some money for President Trump's border wall and avoid a government shutdown. Congressman Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) was one of those who voiced their displeasure with the compromise.
In a video posted on Twitter, Burchett broke down some of the allocations that he disagreed with.
Burchett mentions that while the bill allocates over $1 billion for the wall, it spends "40 times that" on foreign aid. The bill also allocates "$65 million on studying salmon," the congressman says. "You can go to the Red Lobster and study it for $12.95. That's ridiculous."
"We didn't do anything, just spent y'all's money," Burchett says. "It's a disgrace. Thank y'all for sending me here."
