Happy birthday, Abraham Lincoln

LOS ANGELES (CIRCA) — Today marks the 210th birthday of the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, who was born in 1809 in Hardin County, Kentucky.

Lincoln's birthday is celebrated nationwide on Presidents Day, which is Feb. 18 this year. However, on his official birthday, there is an annual ceremony held at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington.

After Lincoln was assassinated April 15, 1865, there were efforts to recognize his birthday as a national holiday, but they were unsuccessful. Some states do recognize Lincoln's birthday as a state holiday.
