WILMINGTON, N.C. (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — Police in Wilmington, North Carolina, said on Friday that social media photographs helped identify 22-year-old Courtnay Danielle Lawrence as the suspect in a hit-and-run assault carried out two days earlier.
The Wilmington Police Department shared footage showing a car veer toward two pedestrians, hitting one. Police said the victim sustained multiple injuries and that the man who wasn’t hit by the vehicle had “a known dating relationship with Lawrence.”
Police said they identified Lawrence as the suspect “after receiving multiple tips from the public,” and investigators found a photo of Lawrence online standing next to the damaged car. The photo was posted immediately after the incident, police said.
