CANBY, Ore. — Five people died inside a rural home in eastern Clackamas County, just southeast of Portland, in what deputies describe as a 'gruesome' scene.
Deputies encountered Mark Leo Gregory Gago, 42, as he was attempting to kill a young girl, and officials said they were faced with a "deadly force" situation.
Gago is suspected of killing 9-month-old Olivia Lynn Rose Gago, Shaina E. Sweitzer, 31; Jerry William Bremer, 66; and Pamela Denise Bremer, 64.
Circa partner KATU has obtained copies of the police calls from Broadcastify.
At 10:15 p.m., Clackamas County sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a domestic violence and multi-homicide call.
In the audio, dispatchers relay information from 911 callers to deputies.
The 911 caller appears to leave the phone, but kept the line open.
"We now have an open line. It’s quiet now. We did hear someone say, 'just broke her neck.' And it sounded like a physical disturbance in the background," a dispatcher told deputies.
The 911 dispatcher said the caller was unable to answer questions.
At one point, it sounds like the caller is describing to deputies the weapons involved.
"Her boyfriend had a knife. He has a .45 handgun and two to three shotguns," the dispatcher said during the incident.
It appears the emergency dispatchers receive an additional call from a person who managed to survive the incident.
"We have a female on the line that was at this location earlier and says that the male used an 'ax hammer' on his mother. The female is saying that she thinks the entire family is deceased."
Nearly an hour after the initial call, deputies report that shots had been fired inside the home. Inside the house, a deputy warns other responding deputies.
"Nobody needs to come into this house that's not essential to be inside this house. They don't need to see what's going on inside here," he told dispatch.
