#FakeNews: Activists distribute a satirical version of The Washington Post around the nation's capital

Actions

WASHINGTON (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — The "fake news" being distributed Wednesday in Washington certainly looked real.

Activists published a satirical version of The Washington Post to hand out to passers-by around the city. The "newspaper" is dated May 1, 2019, and imagines a world in which President Donald Trump is no longer in office. The headline reads "UNPRESIDENTED," and the articles featured all mimic the theme of a world without Trump as president.

The "Yes-Men" is the activist group taking credit for the paper. Inside, the group includes an "action guide" to "bringing down the president."

The Washington Post's public relations team — the real news organization — released a statement, saying neither the print nor online products were made by it.
