WASHINGTON (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — An off-duty officer tasered a Houston-area woman who says she is eight months pregnant over a misunderstanding at a clothing store.
The woman, Ashley Brown, told ABC News that she went into the store to buy clothes for her son. She left a pair of pants behind after realizing she did not have the money for them, but left with a shirt she says she purchased.
It was then that the deputy claims Brown hit her with her purse. Brown claims she only did so after the deputy "pulled on her." A statement from the Harris County (Texas) Sheriff's Department claims the deputy tasered the woman after the assault.
Brown told ABC News that she went to the hospital after the incident. She said it took doctors 20 minutes to find the fetus' heartbeat, but they did determine that it was OK.
