WASHINGTON (CIRCA) — Jim Roberts, the father of the bride, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10 at noon. His death came just two weeks after the sweet video of his dance with his daughter, Mary Bourne Roberts (now Butts), received heartfelt reception across the internet.

POINT CLEAR, Ala. (CIRCA) — A woman danced with her wheelchair-bound father at her Dec. 29 wedding in what was labeled the "sweetest father-daughter dance ever."

According to the photographer, the bride's father, Jim Roberts, is an attorney and was diagnosed in May 2017 with a form of brain cancer called glioblastoma.

The two danced to the song "I Hope You Dance," by Lee Ann Womack — a song the father and daughter, Mary Bourne Roberts (now Butts), have loved since she was a girl, according to AL.com.

According to the website, Jim Roberts was and put in hospice care in mid-December. It also notes that Mary was a dance major at the University of Alabama and teaches at the Eastern Shore Dance Academy in Daphne, Alabama.
