WASHINGTON (CIRCA) — The holidays are a busy time to travel, be it on the road, in the air or on the train tracks.

This year, a record-breaking 112.5 million Americans will travel during the winter holidays, according to AAA.

In its 2018 Christmas travel forecast, AAA predicts 6.7 million people will travel by air—the highest in 15 years.

“Strong economic growth fueled by robust consumer spending continues to drive strong demand for seasonal travel," said Bryan Shilling, managing director, AAA Travel products and services. "With a record-breaking one-third of the country choosing to travel this holiday, roadways and airports are sure to be busy."

In New York City and Washington, D.C., Thursday, Dec. 20 is the worst day to travel, reports AAA.

In Atlanta, the busiest day to travel is expected to be Saturday, Dec. 22.
