CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas (CIRCA via STORYFUL) — A man was hauled from a blazing vehicle by two sheriff’s deputies, then rolled into a puddle to douse the flames, during a dramatic rescue in Texas last week.
Deputies Braedon Boznango and Carlton Carrington, of the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office, dragged the man from the car after it crashed on State Highway 124, south of Winnie.
The man, whose legs and abdomen had been on fire, was airlifted to a Houston hospital in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
Body cam footage from the two deputies shows them pulling the unconscious man from the blazing car.
“Both deputies were uninjured during their rescue of this man; however, the intensity of this fire melted parts of their equipment while on their uniforms,” wrote the sheriff’s office, which posted the footage on Tuesday.
“Had these deputies not acted quickly, decisively and [with] total disregard for their own safety, the seriously injured man would have perished inside the vehicle,” the sheriff’s office added.
