WASHINGTON (CIRCA via WBFF) — While Christmas is often a time to travel to see friends and family, this man is traveling to see strangers.

Rodney Smith Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama, has been traveling around the country in hopes of bringing gifts and cheer to homeless individuals in every state. He posts on Facebook when he arrives so that his followers can give him advice about where to find people in need in their city. His most recent stops have been Richmond, Virginia, and Baltimore.

In a statement published by WBFF, Smith explains his purpose for the journey.

"On November 26, I will embark on my Hope for the Holidays Tour, a 50-state road trip to deliver gifts to at least two different people who are homeless in each state. Along with delivering the gifts to provide them with a simple moment of cheer, I hope to learn more about the different people i meet, find out how they became homeless and to understand what Christmas means to them."

Smith is the same man who mowed lawns in all 50 states this summer. He is the founder of Raising Men Lawn Care Service, which provides free lawn care to the elderly, disabled, veterans and single mothers.
