NORMAN, Okla. (KOKH) — A few insensitive tweets sent by Kyler Murray from when he was 14 and 15 years old surfaced online late Saturday, according to USA Today.

The tweets have since been deleted. The Oklahoma quarterback posted an apology on his Twitter account.

"I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15," Murray tweeted. "I used a poor choice of word that doesn’t reflect who I am or what I believe. I did not intend to single out any individual or group."

The tweets included a homophobic slur and surfaced after Murray became the seventh Oklahoma player to win the Heisman Trophy.

Murray will face Alabama in what potentially could be the final game of his college career in the College Football Playoff semifinals on Dec. 29.
