LOS ANGELES (CIRCA) — A handful of good Samaritans helped a Texas deputy rescue a man from a truck filling up with smoke, and the officer's wild body camera footage caught it all.
In a Facebook video shared by the Kaufman County Sheriff's Office, viewers can follow the journey of Deputy C. Martin's efforts to rescue a man pinned inside his smoking vehicle.
As Martin enters the scene, a handful of concerned citizens are already trying to figure out a way to help the man. Martin hops in the vehicle and tries to push the man out, but he remains pinned by the steering column and part of the dash.
After the man is pulled from the vehicle, people are seen carrying him off the highway.
In the Facebook post, the sheriff's office saluted the volunteers.
"Without the cooperation of everyone involved, this could be a very different story. We have reached out to a few of those who helped, but have not identified everyone; to those we may have missed — we would like to recognize you in person! Kaufman County is fortunate to have Deputy Martin serving this community. He has proven he has the heart of a servant and the bravery of a lion; we couldn't be any more proud that he is a Kaufman County Deputy Sheriff!"
