WASHINGTON (CIRCA) — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joked on Twitter about Fox News' recent "obsession" with discussing her.
The representative-elect responded to a tweet about a "four-person panel talking about [her] shoes in primetime" on Fox News. She replied in Spanish with lyrics that translate to, "No it's not love. What you feel, it's called obsession." She added in a follow-up that "monolingual friends" could substitute Mariah Carey's "Obsessed."
Another Twitter user responded to her Spanish tweet, joking that she was making Fox News "hire a translator just to understand [her] roasts." Ocasio-Cortez mocked Fox News in the next post.
Don’t worry, Fox News has made it clear that they are far superior to + more intelligent than me, who they’ve called a “little, simple person.” So I’m sure catching up to me in spoken languages shouldn’t be a problem for them.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) November 24, 2018
One down. Just a few more to go! 😊 https://t.co/q2s4mYlfKl
Dr. Wendy Osefo, who said she was one of the panelists discussing Ocasio-Cortez's shoes, tweeted in response that they also talked about how the representative has earned a place in history books. The commentator, who also appears on CNN and MSNBC in addition to Fox, criticized the tweet for trying to create a narrative.
Ocasio-Cortez has been critical of Fox News for several weeks since a panel discussed her wardrobe choices and financial situation.
1. @FoxNews, why can’t any of your anchors say my name correctly? It’s been 5 months.— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) November 9, 2018
2. It is bizarre to see 1%-salaried anchors laugh at the US housing crisis.
3. Never purchased pricey clothes + always told my story. But repeating lies until they are believed is your thing. https://t.co/Py5aXFi3Z4
