COLUMBUS, Ohio (CIRCA via WKRC) — A bill in the Ohio House of Representatives would criminalize abortion in all cases in the state and would allow criminal charges against both doctors who perform abortions and women seeking abortions.
It would also characterize a fetus as a person under Ohio's criminal code, meaning abortions could be punishable by life in prison or even the death penalty.
Proposed bill would criminalize abortions in all cases
The bill is currently being considered by the House Health Committee.
Last week, the Ohio House passed the so-called "Heartbeat Bill," which would ban abortions as early as six weeks.
