QUANTICO, Va. (Circa) — Nov. 10 is the annual birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps, celebrating the founding of the original Continental Marines in 1775.

This year, the Marine Corps turns 243. As Marines and others celebrate across the country, the National Museum of the Marine Corps will honor them with a traditional cake-cutting ceremony. The youngest and oldest Marine present are honored to symbolize the "passing of Marine Corps heritage and tradition."
