Ohio dog has to be euthanized after someone tried to cut off its head

WASHINGTON (CIRCA) – A dog in Cleveland, Ohio, was euthanized after being discovered with severe knife wounds to its neck, police say.

According to a police report the small dog, who was discovered by a man on the streets, was wearing clothing but also had debris all over it. The report also says the dog was found with an eviction notice.

Police say the man who found the dog told them he placed the animal inside a crate. He also covered the dog with a towel and provided it water to drink.

Officers eventually responded to the situation and transported the dog to a kennel. The dog had a microchip which contained information about its owner.

"The dog was euthanized due to the severe injuries it had sustained at someone’s hand. They tried cutting the dog’s head off," according to the police report.

Fox 8 Cleveland reports no arrests have been made.
