Actions

WASHINGTON (CIRCA) - A father was eating at a Birmingham, Alabama, McDonald's with his children when a masked man entered the restaurant, according to WIAT-TV.

An employee was opening the door to let the father and his family leave when the masked man began shooting. It is unknown if the man was trying to rob the restaurant.

The father happened to be armed and began firing shots, eventually killing the suspect. The father and one of his children, a minor, were hit by gunfire. Both are expected to recover.

WIAT reports the father, who has not been identified publicly, won't be charged.
