WASHINGTON (Circa) — A Miami-Dade corrections officer and his wife are being charged for sneaking contraband into the jail in exchange for money.

Gary West Alford and his wife, Shantica Anastacia Alford were arrested Thursday after undercover detectives paid them money to sneak contraband into the Metro West Detention Center. Reports say police received tips that the Alfords were sneaking contraband into the center in exchange for money. The Alfords were caught after an undercover detective paid Gary West Alford $1,000 to sneak a cell phone into the facility, reports say.

The Alfords both have a hearing scheduled for Nov. 26.
