Explosive device found near George Soros' home

WASHINGTON (Circa) — Police are investigating an explosive device found near the home of billionaire philanthropist and Democratic activist George Soros, The New York Times reports.

It is unknown if Soros was at home when the device was found. Police would not answer the publication's questions but did confirm a hazardous device unit was requested.

Soros has been under scrutiny recently after being falsely accused of funding a caravan of immigrants from South America heading towards the U.S. border. The accusations were spread on Twitter by Republican Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida.

The billionaire is also known for giving millions of dollars to Democratic candidates.

The FBI and ATF also did not respond to the NYT's requests for comment.
