DETROIT (Circa) — Detroit Police Chief James Craig announced Friday that his department's probe into Michigan funeral homes will widen after hidden stores of baby corpses were discovered at two unrelated businesses, reports The Washington Post.
“We want to understand the reasons: Is it financial gain? If so, how? Who knew or who else is involved in this?” said Craig at a news conference hours after 63 fetus and infant corpses were discovered in a raid on Perry Funeral Home.
A week before the raid, authorities had searched an abandoned funeral home at the direction of an anonymous letter. They allegedly found nearly a dozen corpses hidden in the ceiling.
“I would like to look at you and tell you I hope … that this is isolated to these two. I can’t say that with certainty,” said Craig.
