YouTube service has been restored for millions of people worldwide.

In a tweet, the company said "We're back! Thanks for all of your patience. If you continue to experience issues, please let us know."

WASHINGTON (Circa) — The second most visited website in the world is currently down worldwide.

YouTube, YouTubeTV and YouTube Music are all experiencing outages. It is unknown what is causing the sites not to work. The outage began shortly after 9:00 p.m. eastern time, according to DownDetector.

When some users try to access the site, they see the following message:

“Sorry, something went wrong. A team of highly trained monkeys has been dispatched to deal with this situation. If you see them, send them this information as text (screenshots frighten them).”

YouTube also sent a tweet out saying, "Thanks for your reports about YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music access issues. We're working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated."

The shutdown is happening as some viewers were watching the NBA's opening night as well as the National League Championship Series in baseball. #YouTubeDOWN also became a trending topic on Twitter.
