A former teacher at Lockhart High School in Lockhart, Texas has pleaded guilty to having an improper relationship with a male student.
Sarah Madden Fowlkes, 28, submitted the plea to a judge, who has yet to accept it.
The agreement would see Fowlkes serve 4 years deferred adjudication, paying a fine, and surrendering her teachers license.
According to the school system in the area, administrators were told of the relationship in March of 2017, just before spring break.
Interviews determined that the student had been in contact in person and by message with Fowlkes, and that during their encounters Fowlkes engaged in sexual contact with the student.
Fowlkes had been with the district since 2014.
According to Fowlkes' former bio on the school's website, she taught Anatomy and Physiology and Environmental Systems, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Edward's University.
The bio also states she previously taught third and fifth grade at an elementary school in the same district.
Fowlkes was suspended from teaching after her arrest.
