Matt Damon plays a seething, water-spilling Brett Kavanaugh in SNL season premiere

WASHINGTON (Circa) — Thursday's historic Senate hearing with Judge Brett Kavanaugh and Dr. Christine Blasey Ford left the country guessing about a lot of things. One of course, was how the season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" that weekend would take on the story. The answer: lots of spilled water and celebrity guests.

Movie star Matt Damon was the man tasked with portraying Judge Brett Kavanaugh. SNL has had a pattern in the past of enlisting big-name celebrities to play high profile political characters, such as Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump and Melissa McCarthy as Sean Spicer.

Damon's entrance was met with loud applause and the sketch continued to poke fun at Kavanaugh's angry demeanor from Thursday's hearing.

"Let me tell you this," Damon opened as Kavanaugh. "I'm going to start at an 11. I'm gonna take it to a 15 real quick!"

Damon sniffed and snorted through the sketch and chugged water aggressively, even finishing off with shotgunning a can of it.

The nearly 13 minute cold-open also featured performances by SNL alum Rachel Dratch as Senator Amy Klobuchar and cast member Kate McKinnon in prosthetics as Senator Lindsey Graham.
