WASHINGTON (Circa) — William Leverett, a registered sex offender, confessed to killing jogger Melissa Millan after walking into a church this week.
"We were stunned," Pastor Michael Trazinski, of Open Gate Ministries, said Monday. "We knew what we had to do. Justice needed to be done."
Millan's murder happened four years ago as she was out for a jog with her dog.
Leverett told police that he stabbed Millan because his "anger escalated" after realizing she's "way out of my league." He says he stabbed her in the chest.
Leverett had just returned from sex offender therapy when the crime happened. He wanted to interact with a human of some type but began getting anxious and angry when he realized he can't have her.
"(Leverett was) a faithful member of the church. Very helpful. We never would have expected this," Trazinksi said.
