1,000-acre wildfire burns in southern Idaho

(KUTV) -- A 1,000-acre wildfire is burning just north of the Utah state line in Idaho, according to reports received from KIFI/KIDK Saturday evening.

A wildfire is burning south of Soda Springs in Caribou County and it's currently burning at 1,000 acres north and northeast of the area. The fire is threatening several structures and residences.

Evacuees are told to go to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center and Bailey Creek Church.

The fire closed 8 Mile Road, along with nearby subdivision access roads.

There are seven engines, two dozers, a 20-person handcrew, a helicopter and nine airtankers currently fighting the fire. Caribou County, Bear Lake County and Franklin County are all assisting in the firefighting efforts.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
