Willie Nelson responds to criticism over support of Texas Democratic candidate



NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) -- Country icon Willie Nelson continues to vocalize his support for Beto O'Rourke, a Democratic candidate running against Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, despite criticism he has received from fans.

Speaking on "The View" Tuesday, Nelson was asked what he thought about the criticism he's supporting a Democrat in the normally red state.

"I don't care," Nelson said. "They're entitled to their opinions and I'm entitled to mine."

Nelson noted he's been supporting Democrats all his life and "I haven't hidden it that much."

Nelson will be holding a fundraiser for O'Rourke on September 29th in Austin, Texas.
