President Trump approves disaster declaration for South Carolina

WASHINGTON (Circa) - President Donald Trump has recently approved a major disaster declaration for South Carolina in the wake of Florence.

FEMA made the announcement in a press release Monday stating that federal disaster assistance will be made available to the state as well as to supplement state, tribal and local recovery efforts.

"Federal funding is available to the state, tribal and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures, including direct federal assistance, in Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester, Georgetown, Horry, Marion, Orangeburg, and Williamsburg counties."

Federal funds will also be made available to on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation.
