LOS ANGELES (Circa) — No awards viewing party is complete without themed cocktails.
At Ever Bar, inside the Kimpton Everlyn Hotel in Hollywood, beverage manager Dan Rook and his team have created a signature menu of craft cocktails based on this year's Emmy-nominated shows, including crowd favorites "Stranger Things," "The Crown," and "Game of Thrones."
Much like the shows they honor, these drinks feature both style and substance that defy convention to become something truly unique.
Test your mixology skills with these recipes based on some of this year's Emmy-nominated TV shows.
- 2 oz. Butter and Eggo Waffle infused Wild Turkey Bourbon
- 1/2 oz. Copper and Kings Brandy
- 1/4 oz. Bénédictine Liquor
- 1/4 oz. Maple Cinnamon Syrup
- 1/4 oz. Honey Vinegar
- 2 Dashes Chocolate Bitters
- Stir, and serve in frozen light bulb with LED coaster
In honor of Eleven's (Millie Bobby Brown) favorite snack in the thriller series, this cocktail is crafted to taste like Eggo Waffles with butter. Featuring a butter fat-washed bourbon infused with actual Eggos, this drink is the perfect combination of childhood nostalgia and danger that has drawn so many to the Netflix series.
If you drink enough of these, you may very well experience "the Upside Down."
- 1 1/2 oz. Bombay Dry Gin
- 1/2 oz. Earl Grey Tea Syrup
- 3/4 oz. Carpano Vermouth
- 1/4 oz. Vanilla
- Stir and serve in a tea cup
- Top with biscotti whipped cream and lemon zest
Honoring the real-life favorite drink of Queen Elizabeth II, this drink dresses up a classic gin and Dubonnet in royal fashion by infusing notes of vanilla and Earl Grey tea, served in a floral tea cup.
Both light and rich, this cocktail begs the question, '"what is biscotti whipped cream and can we drink this for breakfast?"
"GAME OF THRONES"
- 1 oz. Aberlour Scotch
- 1/2 oz. Plymoth Sloe Gin
- 1/2 oz. Tempus Fugit Creme de Cacao (Chocolate Liquor)
- Dash of Absinthe
- Dash of Angostura Bitters
- Serve in hollow ice block (with thin top) to be burned through using a browning torch
Harkening back to the season seven finale in which (spoiler alert) an undead ice dragon breaks through The Wall, this reservoir of Scotch is served completely encased in ice and must be melted open.
Utilizing a browning torch and some patience, this cocktail is sure to keep you warm through the long winter.
Celebrate the golden age of television by watching the Emmy Awards tonight on NBC at 7:30ET/4:30PT.
