WASHINGTON (Circa) - President Trump declared Friday that North Carolina is in a state of major disaster after Hurricane Florence hit earlier this week.
In a press release from the White House, it was announced that President Trump has ordered federal aid to assist with relief efforts on the state and local level.
There are eight counties in North Carolina that qualify for the federal funding according to the statement. The White House says the money can be used for temporary housing, home repairs, loans to cover property loss and other programs to help people recover from the disaster.
My people just informed me that this is one of the worst storms to hit the East Coast in many years. Also, looking like a direct hit on North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Please be prepared, be careful and be SAFE!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 10, 2018
