New company is making it easier for you to get rid of your ex’s things

WASHINGTON (Circa) — Breakups happen to everyone and mementos of significant others can bring up unhappy emotions.

Instead of keeping or throwing away items from an ex, there is a new option.

Make-Space, an on-demand storage company, and Mschf, a creative agency, are now offering a new solution called ExBox.

A user takes an online quiz and tells the company about any items that reminds he or she of his or her ex. Their organizational experts will schedule an appointment with you. They’ll drop off free packing bins in which to put the ex’s things. Then, ExBox will pick it up and put it safely into storage.

“We realized that the stuff people surround themselves with is emotionally charged, and what you end up keeping in your space can really change how you feel,” said Amory Wooden, the company’s vice president of brand.

The company won’t throw stored stuff away, but you can ask them to donate the items to Goodwill when you first make an appointment.

The company's website says, “Put anything that reminds you of your ex into cold storage before cuffing season arrives.”

There are discounts based on the level of drama in your breakup. There is also a return policy so an ex can get his or her stuff back.
