NEW YORK (Circa) — An all-transgender cast of models walked the runway at Marco Marco’s New York Fashion Week show.
The line, which debuted Sept. 8, was filled with skin-tight sparkle and shine. Designer Marco Morante described the collection as vintage Americana, “but with the new American cast.”
It isn’t the first time Morante has broken the mold. Best known for his underwear and swimwear, Morante launched his Marco Marco label after creating costumes for performers like Katy Perry and Britney Spears. It’s no surprise that the pinup-worthy plunging necklines displayed at NYFW are from the same mind behind Perry’s iconic cupcake bra, featured in the music video “California Gurls.”
Models and attendees hailed the show for its inclusivity.
“This is groundbreaking,’ said David Burtka, who is an actor, chef, and is married to actor Neil Patrick Harris. “This is history. He’s making history.”
“Many years ago, this would never happen,” said model Dominique Jackson.
