WASHINGTON (Circa) - British Airways announced that customer data from both the website and mobile app have been beached.
The airline said personal and financial details were stolen from bookings made through web and mobile platforms. Although, they believe no passport or travel details were stolen.
"The breach has been resolved and our website is working normally. We have notified the police and relevant authorities," British Airways said in a statement. "We are deeply sorry for the disruption that this criminal activity has caused. We take the protection of our customers’ data very seriously."
Customers traveling Thursday should be able to check in online as normal.
The breach impacts bookings made between 10:58 p.m. BST Aug. 21, 2018, to 9:45 p.m. Sept. 5, 2018.
If a customer believes they were affected in this data breach, the airline encourages them to reach out to their bank or credit card provider.
