MADRID (Circa) — What a waste of good fruit. Spanish police nabbed a group of drug smugglers after dozens of pineapples were recovered from a market in the country's capital.
Across the pineapples, 148 pounds of cocaine was confiscated. The pineapples had arrived from Costa Rica via the Portuguese port of Setubal, according to the New York Post.
Each fruit was hollowed out and filled with "compact cylinders" of cocaine. Seven smugglers were arrested in total.
