The Clean Chesapeake Coalition is tackling the pollution in the Chesapeake Bay

CHESTERTOWN, Md. (Circa) — The Clean Chesapeake Coalition, with the help of several Maryland County officials, is focusing on an environmental concern they see at Conowingo Dam in Darlington, Maryland.

Conowingo Dam stands at the end of the Susquehanna River, which originates in New York and flows through Pennsylvania before it empties into the northern end of the Chesapeake Bay. The Clean Chesapeake Coalition views the dam as a significant source of sediment pollution that has not been addressed for decades.

The organization hopes to play a key role in Chesapeake Bay cleanup efforts by bringing attention to the importance of dredging near the dam and educating Maryland residents through surveys and research studies.
