Democrats link congressman's indictment to Trump ethics

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Democrats are linking the insider trading indictment of a Republican congressman to a broader culture of corruption they say is fostered by President Donald Trump. It's an issue they hope will help them in November's elections.

Maryland Democratic Rep. John Sarbanes tells reporters that "the fish rots from the head." He calls Trump "the most ethically blind president we've ever seen."

Rep. Cheri Bustos, an Illinois Democrat, says that instead of draining the swamp, Trump has "built a hotel on it."

The lawmakers spoke in a conference call a day after New York Republican Rep. Chris Collins was arrested and indicted on charges of making illegal stock trades using inside information about a biotech company. Collins was an early, strong Trump supporter.
