Ducks Eatery's 'watermelon steak' will have you confused

The 'watermelon steak' will have your eyes and tastebuds confused

NEW YORK (Circa) - The Manhattan restaurant Ducks Eatery is trying to challenge the narrative that going vegan comes with sacrificing the feel and taste of slow-cook barbecue.

The "watermelon steak" by Chef Will Horowitz is a watermelon prepared and arranged to look like a huge chunk of roast beef. The exterior of the melon is perfectly charred and scored so when it is cut into it gives the appearance of nicely cooked piece of meat. Despite the meaty look, one bite into the "steak" gives away the secret that it is actually watermelon.

When the East Village smokehouse released photos of the Watermelon Steak on Instagram the internet was confused, intrigued, and divided.

So what do you think? Would you try this new vegan dish?
