HALETHORPE, Md. (Circa) - Great news for beer enthusiasts: You don’t need to head overseas to grab an authentic pint of Guinness anymore.

The first Guinness brewery to open in the United States since 1954 is officially open in Maryland. Called the Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House, the brewery is the first ever purpose-built Guinness brewery in American history.

Visitors to the brewery can enjoy taprooms, food, tours and will have a chance to learn all about the world-famous brewing company. The location will brew Guinness Blonde American Lager as well as several other new beers on a smaller scale. It won’t, however, be brewing any of the iconic Guinness stout. That will continue to be made and imported from Ireland.

The $80 million project is expected to create 200 new jobs in Baltimore County. They hope to draw 300,000 visitors within this first year.
