WASHINGTON (Circa) – It’s hard not to get your attention when you see a 27ft. long hot dog drive down the street.
It’s not real but it’s the official Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. Behind the wheel of the Wienermobile is a trained professional.
“Everyone has a smile on their face, everybody is ready to ask us questions, they want to know more about the ride and what we do,” said Cady Lowery a Wienermobile driver.
Lowery who goes by “Cold Cut Cady” and Forrest Koslowski who goes by “Black Forrest Ham” have gone through an extensive training to drive the Wienermobile for a living.
Before their country road trip they spent some time at Hot Dog High.
“That is our two weeks of extensive training where we learn everything from driving the Wienermobile to hot dog puns,” said Koslowski.
For the job they drive around the country and stop at festivals and parades to say hi to their hot dog fans.
One of the drivers Koslowski said this job beats any cubical he’d be sitting at this point.
With all the crazy reactions to the Wienermobile, every day is different.
“Every day is a parade so whether it’s the young kid who comes up and has never seen the Wienermobile before and gets really excited or it might be that 90-year-old person I remember seeing this back in the 50s," said Koslowski
