New York City is considering drug injection sites


Some major cities including New York are moving toward allowing official safe havens for people to take heroin and other narcotics. They see it as a way to save lives in the midst of the deadliest drug overdose epidemic in U.S. history.

New York City is one of several American municipalities considering supervised injection sites to combat opioid overdoses, but the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration has warned that permitting the sites violates federal law.
