I can't imagine a worst time than premiering a talk show whose central premise seems focused on EXCLUDING women, but guess what folks, it's 2018 and this is what we got -- from Bravo no less! Bravo has announced a new show attempting to lure straight male viewers to its titled "Real Men Watch Bravo", hosted by Jerry O'Connell. The show boasts that it will feature no female guests, as the most wrongheaded response I could imagine to the gift that is having a gay and female core audience. Blech. Here to discuss are our hosts Shira Lazar, Ryan Mitchell, and our special guest Ninet Tayeb, whose album, Paper Parachute is set to be released on Feburary 3rd. So what does this trio think of the show?
The trio think it's... obviously, quite bad. Shira thinks it's the result of Andy Cohen having a crush on a straight man and having this unfortunately be the result of this. But in all seriousness, Ryan thinks the title itself is problematic -- the title is clearly aimed at straight men, implying that gay men, the audience that made Bravo the channel what it is, are not the definition of masculinity. This statement is not only problematic, but alienating to the people already watching Bravo. As Ryan expresses, just watch Vanderpump Rules and live your life if you're a straight man watching Bravo. Just... be fine.
