Cute or cringey? Never has a great dichotomy ever been expressed, for beyond good and evil there is our reactions to such things. Will our brains and minds go "aww" or "ewww", "yuk" or "yum", "oooo" or "nooo". Today, our hosts, Ryan Mitchell, Martine Beerman, and our special guest, singer/ songwriter and actor, James Maslow, present to us a double round of cute or cringey, with high heels that look like they were from another dimension, and cakes that resemble a soapy dish sponge. Blech. James Maslow is here to promote his new song "All Day", featuring Dominique, and his new film, 'Wolf Hound".
Up first, are the high heels, titled the Mycelium shoes. The non traditional high heels were created using a 3D printer by the studio Ica & Kosika, and you have to download an app and upload a photo of your feet for them to create the Mycelium shoes to fit you. Well, that's a lot, and the photos do not help, but I am simply your humble scribe. What say you, oh trio of Circa Pop Live personalities? James thinks they seem uncomfortable as hell, and Martine is pointing out that they don't have heels even. Ryan however thinks they're cute, Martine thinks they're cringey, and James chooses concerned, which sort of turns into cringey, and Ryan wishes they could just add concerned!
Speaking of concerned -- next up on the cute or cringey dichotomy: cakes that look like non cakes. Or specifically, super disgusting objects you... probably wouldn't want to eat, such as dish sponges, ashtrays or moldy fruit. But they taste amazing. Chef Ben Churchill creates these odd desserts, and while they may look repulsive, the "Washed Up Sponge" for example is an olive oil sponge cake with mint crumbs, milk foam bubbles and baked apple puree. So... quite good.
So what does our crew say? Cute or cringey? Ryan thinks this is all disgusting, and James thinks it's cringey as hell. Martine thinks it sounds delicious, but James thinks vanilla ice cream is delicious too! Plus James is worried! What if the chef brings out a real sponge!? Too risky folks, too risky.
