Officials have ordered approximately 300 more homes to be evacuated in the southwestern Colorado as a raging wildfire grew 40 percent larger than the previous day, reports Reuters.
In total, 1,500 residences have been evacuated in the area threatened by the fire. Thus far, no injuries have been reported due to the fire and no homes have been burned.
In total, two dozen wildfires were being tracked on Friday by federal officials. The number of wildfires in recent years has been increasing, as has the size of said wildfires.
According to the National Interagency Coordination Center, a near-record of 10 million acres were burned by wildfires in 2017.
